Counseling
Does it sometimes feel like the job of parenting just might break you?
Does it feel like there’s always advice and little support?
Do you need a space to be seen and heard even though you're the parent?
Do you wish you had support in figuring out what’s best for your family instead of being TOLD what’s best for your family?
I work with parents so that they can be the best version of their selves first and then as a parent. In my practice, there is no room for judgement. I trust that if you found your way here, you are a parent who has chosen better for your self and your child. No matter if it was by an internet search, referral, or order, you still made the choice. I you decide to work with me, you can trust that I will support you and provide you with the tools necessary to create the life and relationship you’ve dreamt of for yourself and your child.
“ There is no debate of whether parenting is hard, but there’s always a debate on if you’re allowed to admit it and what to do about it. ”
Parent Counseling
Neurodivergent
Are you struggling to help your child through melt downs or shutdowns?
Do see your child’s potential and imagine what life would be like if they were able to reach it?
Have you noticed that your child has a different thought process that makes everything more 10x more difficult?
Are you exhausted from fighting with the school system and professionals on behave of your child?
I create a safe space for parents to express the uncomfortable truths about parenting. Because ADHD and Autism are often invisible impairments, parents are often judged for “behaviors” without empathy or support. Working with me means that you’ll have a professional in your corner who understands it takes empathy and support for the parents to allow empathy and support for the child for real change to occur.
Too often parents are given treatment plans without being provided quality education and resources the help their neurodivergent children. This inevitably leads to unmet expectations, shame, and chaos. I work with parents to understand their child’s specific experience with ADHD and Autism beyond text books and social media so that they thrive instead of just survive the day.
“It can be a wild ride parenting children with neurodivergent diagnoses. Everything means so much more. The milestones feel so much greater, but the everyday can feel like a fight for your life.”
Foster Care & Adoption
Do you feel like TIPS-MAPP’s training wasn’t enough to prepare or support you?
Do you wish you had support beyond the brief visits from your worker?
Are you battling the feelings of love vs your capacity?
Are you tired of getting “professional opinions” that don’t align with how your family works?
As a therapist that has worked in foster care, I have witnessed the struggles that foster and adoptive parents endure while dealing with the system. Dealing with all of the demands of the system plus the demands of parenting to often leaves you feeling overwhelmed and over criticized. This leads to high placement disruptions that could have been avoided with actual support.
My support doesn’t come with a long check list or judgement like other professionals you’ve probably had to work with. Working with me means that you are heard, respected and valued before we get to the goals. Once we get to the goals, I work with my clients so that the goals meet the needs of the family and the individuals with in it. I understand that supporting the parents in this manner allows them to support their child in the same way.
